Harmony of the Spheres

An Opera in Two Acts

Plot Summary of Harmony of the Spheres

Harmony of the Spheres is a two-act science-fiction opera set in a future galaxy where most of humanity has fled Earth and scattered across the stars, as human civilization is threatened by robot attacks and deep internal division.

The young soprano Aelia is chosen to portray Thena, a brilliant physicist and the creator of the mysterious Lux Technology, in a newly commissioned opera. Soon afterward, Thena dies under mysterious circumstances. As Aelia and the composer Ector travel to Planet 142857 in search of Thena’s final score, they uncover a web of secrets: Aelia’s hidden connection to Thena, the true power of the Grand Palindrome Equation, and Saram’s plan to use Lux Technology to dominate the galaxy.

In the end, Aelia returns to Earth and conceals the Equation within the opera itself, broadcasting it through the Lux network to human communities across the galaxy, in the hope that shared knowledge and music may become a force of unity and survival.

Program Note: Scene 1.2. — The First Rehearsal

Aelia arrives at the rehearsal for the first time and learns that she has been cast in the role of Thena. As she tries out Thena’s vocal lines, she discovers that the music seems to fit her voice perfectly. The other singers are stunned by Aelia’s extraordinary vocal ability and begin to question whether she might be a humanroid.

The argument is abruptly interrupted by breaking news: Thena is in critical condition after a suicide attempt. Liore enters with the latest update: Thena has passed away.
